For this week I chose to focus on the Skip James. I was drawn to Skip James' music the most out of all of the Delta Blues' artists. I really focused on the song Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues. I felt attracted to this song because I know what it's like to make music when you're feeling low. Dick Spottswood said about Skip James, "Skip James, you never knew. Skip could be sunshine, or thunder and lightning depending on his whim of the moment." I think about how as a musician of Blues music, your life was probably pretty rough and your personality would reflect that. The Mississippi Delta region was stricken with poverty and the music generated from there reflects that. Here is my image of a river on a dreary day... a blues day.
